Washing Your Floors
We recommend washing your floors with a highly diluted solution of water mixed with a few drops of dish soap. We highly recommend against using any flooring cleaners that contain oil or wax as these products make it very difficult to successfully buff your floor in the future with satisfying results.
Rugs
The National Wood Flooring Association recommends waiting six weeks [or until floors are completely cured] to lay rugs down on a newly finished hardwood floor. Time for complete curing depends on the finish used and the conditions in the home.
It is also good practice to check and clean under rugs at least twice a month. Most rugs require a protective pad laid underneath. Do not use rubber backed rugs as they can cause damage to your floors. Also, in rooms with long periods of daily sunlight, rotate the rug around to help with sun discoloration.

Sustainability is at the heart of the hardwood flooring industry, and preserving the integrity and beauty of our planet is also near and dear to our family’s heart. According to the NWFA “Wood floors are the most environmentally friendly flooring option available.” There are a few reasons for this:
Trees are a renewable resource
Manufacturing wood flooring produces very little waste
Trees are carbon neutral, and manufactured wood products continue to store carbon after being sealed and finished
Wood flooring can last for centuries when properly cared for. This means less waste entering landfills
